Shortly after the death of the late Dr. Phillips, his widow wrote his biography, this little book is an abridgement of ‘Dr. J. L. Phillips: A Biographical Sketch e first twelve chapters of the book consist of the work of Mrs. Phillips. For the remaining four chapters the editor is alone responsible. She takes this opportunity of expressing his great indebtedness to the Rev. William Carey, who very kindly examined and arranged the vast mass of correspondence and other material used in the preparation of the book.
