The American Woman's Cook Book. This 1947 edition of “The American Woman’s Cook Book” was edited by Ruth Berolzheimer, Director of the Culinary Arts Institute and published by Culinary Arts Institute in Chicago. “The American Woman’s Cook Book” was based on a magazine called the Delineator from the mid to late 1800s. In 1937 Leonard Davidow purchased the rights to the Delineator’s cooking content, moved to Chicago, began publishing under the Culinary Arts Institute imprint and brought Ruth Berolzheimer on as editor. While “The American Woman’s Cook Book” relied heavily on the Delineator content it also was one of the first cookbooks to use four-color photography thus selling millions of copies.
This copy is in fair condition, with fading of the spine as well as some bumping of the cover. The book is free of any significant markings although a couple of pages have some small food spots on them. While many of the recipes are still familiar today some of the instruction is obsolete, ie. converting dried eggs and pasteurizing milk. https://hungrytraveller.com.au/3d-flip-book/the-american-womans-cook-book/
