Salt Vol 1, No 2, 6th October 1941
Salt was produced by the Army Education Service (AES, later the AAES) and distributed free (one copy for three readers) to service personnel, Australian men and women as well as servicemen from Commonwealth countries and the USA based in Australia. The journal published accounts of military campaigns, victories and defeats, and background war material: this was in keeping with AES aims to encourage a well-informed soldier, and to maintain morale.
