Allom, Thomas. London: The London Printing and Publishing Co, Ca. 1843. Steel engraving of early Hong Kong, by S. Bradshaw after Thomas Allom. Allom (1804-72) was an English architect, artist, and topographical illustrator, noted for his illustrations in travel books, especially illustrations of China. Water carriers make their way along a path at the edge of the harbor, with Chinese junks and the city in the distance.
