This volume is a compilation of issues from the first weeks of the month to include the issues with the monthly Life in Japan series. Leisure Hour was a periodical published by the Religious Tract Society weekly, 1852-80 and monthly, 1881-1905. It was a family journal costing one penny designed for improving Sunday reading and included factual, religious and travel articles in addition to serial fiction. Well illustrated by wood engravings, including two views of the October Midnight Sky in London showing the Milky Way.
