Classical Siamese Theatre by Dhanit Yupho (often associated with Phya Anuman Rajadhon) was first published in 1952 in Bangkok.

This important study examines the history, structure, and aesthetics of traditional Thai court drama and dance. Yupho describes major forms such as khon (masked dance-drama based on the Ramakien), lakhon nai, and lakhon nok, outlining their origins, performance conventions, costumes, music, and symbolic gestures. Drawing on his experience within Thailand’s Fine Arts Department, he documents how classical theatre was preserved, revived, and adapted in the twentieth century.

Written in English for an international readership, the book helped introduce Siam?s dramatic traditions to scholars outside Thailand. It remains a foundational reference for the study of Thai performing arts and provides valuable insight into royal patronage, ritual performance, and the cultural identity of mid-twentieth-century Thailand.
